Bio-identical Hormone HRT - Women Natural Progesterone - a safer choice than synthetic progestins. Natural progesterone is not the same drug as the synthetic medroxyprogesterone sold as the brand name Provera®. Medroxyprogesterone is a progestin, not progesterone, and has a long list of side effects.  It has some of the effects of progesterone and testosterone, but it blocks the body's production of natural progesterone and also blocks the receptor sites for progesterone.   The huge 20 million dollar "PEPI" study which was funded by a major drug company proved that natural progesterone was superior as far as heart-protective properties of hormonal combination therapy is concerned.  Also it confirmed that natural progesterone is protective against the horse urine estrogen's harmful effects on the uterus.    As those of us who were paying attention to the facts have known for many years, recent studies have confirmed the negative effects of medroxyprogesterone regarding heart disease, and that it cancels out the beneficial effect of taking the estrogen in the first place.   Natural progesterone has been shown by itself to be effective in preventing and reversing osteoporosis, but the best results have been with proper balancing of the hormones.   Natural progesterone does not have the long list of side effects reported for the synthetic medroxyprogesterone.
